The settlement of the Jonava Forest District (lit. Jonavos miškų urėdijos gyvenvietė ) is a northern district of Jonava ( Kaunas District ) in Lithuania .

geography

The settlement of the Jonava Forest District is located on the right bank of the Neris in the upper terrace, on the A6 road ( Kaunas - Zarasai - Daugavpils ), at the end of Jonas Basanavičius street (main street of the city), at the intersection of Fabriko - and Panerių Road, not far from the railway viaduct and the Jonava railway bridge . Nearby is the Atminimo park , the Laukagaliai hill , a gas station (Jonava department of the Kaunas branch of AB Lietuvos dujos ).

The district borders the districts Girelė , Baldininkai , Laukagaliai and the southwestern part of the village Laukagaliai in the administrative district Šilai .

history

From 1960 to 1977, the Jonava forestry estate was built at the end of what was then Spalio revoliucijos street near Laukagaliai. The forest management department worked in the first house. From year to year a total of 64 apartments (in houses 60–74) and a separate heating plant were built in the district. Formerly lived here mostly employees from the Forestry Department Jonava ( forester , foresters, forest engineers , foresters , forest technicians , forest workers ) with their family members, as the state apartments in only for these Soviet era could be made available.

After Lithuania regained independence, the official apartments were privatized. After that, non-foresters also moved to the settlement. Spalio Revoliucijos Street became Jonas Basanavičius Street. The central heating was later introduced by the city. Today the settlement is part of the city of Jonava . Since April 2013 the district has its own Miškininkų Street (dt. ' Forester ' Street) due to the council decision of the Jonava Rajongemeinde .

In the district there are many green spaces, a forest botanical park, playgrounds, a basketball court, land for agricultural work and gardening. The district is decorated with some wooden sculptures by the local folk artist.
