history
On January 1, 1959, the Jonava Forestry Company ( Jonavos miškų ūkis ) was founded. The first director was Julius Danusevičius (* 1931). The establishment was initiated by Algirdas Matulionis (1911–1980), Minister of Forestry and Forest Industry of Soviet Lithuania . At that time, the forest industries of the Rajong communities Kaunas , Kaišiadorys , Širvintos , Kėdainiai and Ukmergė were united. In the beginning there were only four foresters' offices ( girininkija ). In 1961 another 4 were founded: in Dumsiai ( forester A. Vincevičius), Santaka (forester A. Mazuronis), Ąžuolynė (forester A. Mikalauskas) and Girelė (forester P. Zimblys).
From 1959 to 1977 the settlement of the Jonava Forestry Department was built at the end of what was then Spalio revoliucijos ( October Revolution Street , then Jonas Basanavičius - and now Miškininkų Street) in what was then the village of Laukagaliai . A total of 64 apartments were built (houses no. 60–74). Now the settlement is a microrajon (district) of Jonava .
From 1971 the director of the forestry operation was Ramutis Jusaitis. Then the manufacturing base and a branch of the railway were built in the village of Liepiai . In 1980 a new factory administration building was built.
From 1991 to 2002, the Jonava Forestry Department forested the former territories of polygons of the Soviet Army in the Dumsiai and Užusaliai foresters . April 2014 there were 95 employees.
