The type 150 is a multi-purpose container ship type from the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde . From 1992 to 1993 three units of this series were built.
history
The correspondent ship owner John-Peter Wulff from Kollmar ordered the first two ships of the type 150 for the partner shipping companies MS "Hermann" John-Peter Wulff KG and MS "Ilse" John-Peter Wulff KG. The keel laying of the two units took place on November 30, 1992. The lead ship Hermann ran on 16 January 1993 by the stack and completed on April 14, his test drive. It was delivered on April 16, 1993 and started up a day later as Deppe Europe on behalf of Deppe-Linie GmbH & Co. KG. The second ship, the Ilse , floated on March 6, 1993 and made the first test run on June 15. They were delivered on June 19, 1993. Both ships were used worldwide as a result of numerous charters and subsequent sales. The Hermann was scrapped in the spring of 2015 and the Ilse in the spring of 2016 in Alang ( India ).
The third ship of the series was ordered by Kiepe-Schepers KG from Haren / Ems for the partner shipping company Kiepe-Schepers Containerschiff KG MS “La Paloma”. The La Paloma was launched on May 15, 1993 and completed its first test drive on August 12. She was delivered on August 19, 1993 and put into service on the same day. At the beginning of 2011, the Kiepe-Schepers shipping company sold the ship to Elbe Shipping GmbH & Co. KG in Drochtersen , which renamed it Rike and sold it to the scrapping yard Civet Guandong Scrapyard in China the following year for scrapping .
The construction of the 24.50 meter wide Type 150 caused some problems for JJ Sietas KG. The ships could not be completely assembled at the Sietas shipyard because otherwise they would not have fit through the passage of the Estes barrier, which was then only 22 meters wide . The double-hulled ships were therefore only given their inner hull at the Sietas shipyard , while parts of the frames and the outer hull were left out amidships . That way they were narrow enough to be towed through the barrage. The completion of the side walls and the completion of the new buildings, which were already provided with deckhouses , took place at the Norderwerft , which at that time belonged to the Sietas Group. In order to be able to build larger types of ships in the future, Hinrich Sietas then campaigned heavily for a conversion of the Estes barrier, which began in 1996. The passage through the barrage, widened to 40 meters, was put into operation in 1999.
technology
The double-hulled ships , built in section , were 181.50 meters long and 24.50 meters wide. They each had three NMF loading cranes with a maximum load capacity of 45 t. The carrying capacity of the three ships varied between 21,540 dwt ( Hermann ) and 21,647 dwt ( La Paloma ). They could stow up to 1,661 20-foot standard containers (TEU) or, alternatively, 789 40-foot standard containers (FEU) plus 82 TEU. With an average weight of 14 t per container, a maximum of 1100 TEU could be loaded for reasons of stability. There were connections for 200 refrigerated containers on board . The type 150 had four box-shaped cargo holds with hydraulic folding hatch covers . The holds had a volume of 30,551 m³ (29,515 m³ ball space).
The ships were powered by a 12,500 kW diesel engine of the type MAN-B & W 9L58 / 64, which acted on a variable-pitch propeller via a reduction gear . They had an electrically powered bow thruster with 750 kW of power for berthing and casting off maneuvers . There were two diesel generators and a shaft generator on board to generate electricity. In addition, an emergency generator was installed. The type 150 was designed for cruising in ice-free waters or for very light ice conditions ( ice class E).
