Sigmund Ferdinand von Perger (born August 17, 1778 in Vienna ; † May 24, 1841 there ) was an Austrian painter, engraver and etcher.

Sigmund Ferdinand von Perger was the son of a high school professor, father of the painter, graphic artist and writer Anton von Perger , grandfather of the chemist Hugo von Perger and the musician Richard von Perger .

Perger studied at the Vienna Art Academy . From 1798 Perger worked as a draftsman and painter of historical scenes at the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory . From 1810 he went on study trips to Italy . Perger was appointed imperial and royal court animal painter in 1817 . From 1825 he held the post of 2nd curator at the Imperial and Royal Gemäldegalerie in Belvedere Palace in Vienna. From 1820 to 1833, together with the bookseller Carl Haas, he published a collection of copperplate engravings from the gallery's pictures. He supplied watercolor copies of the works of art as templates to the engravers Johann Blaschke , Johann Nepomuk Passini , Josef Axmann , Joseph Kovátsch , Ignaz Krepp .
