Signum Quartet

The Signum Quartet is a Cologne- based string quartet and was founded in 1994. It has been playing in its current line-up since 2016.

Tours

Concert appearances have taken the Signum Quartet to international podiums at the Hamburg Laeiszhalle , the Liederhalle Stuttgart , the Concertgebouw Amsterdam , the London Wigmore Hall and the Berlin Philharmonie as well as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , the Rheingau Music Festival , the Aldeburgh Festival , the Festival d ' Aix-en-Provence and the BBC Proms . At the invitation of the Goethe Institute , the ensemble went on concert tours, for example to Asia, North and South America and Africa.

Her album No.3 was awarded the  International Classical Music Awards 2014 as best recording in the chamber music category.

Radio stations as well as the broadcasters of ARD, Deutschlandfunk, DRS, ORF, BBC and arte regularly broadcast concerts by the ensemble.

Between 2011 and 2013 the Signum Quartet received funding from the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists scheme .

Artistic development

Intensive studies took place with the Alban Berg Quartet , the Artemis Quartet and the Melos Quartet as well as collaboration with György Kurtág , Tabea Zimmermann , Walter Levin , Alfred Brendel , Jörg Widmann , Leon Fleisher and a. In 1998 the ensemble was included in the funding program of the Villa Musica Chamber Music Foundation and since February 2003 the quartet has been sponsored by Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now eV. This was followed by chamber music studies at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart , the University of Music and Dance Cologne , the Instituto International de Música de Cámara of the Royal University of Madrid and at the University of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig (tutorial ).

The Signum Quartet has been recording for the Capriccio label since 2009 .
