Silver Springs Shores is a census-designated place (CDP) in Marion County in the US state of Florida with 6539 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Silver Springs Shores is located approximately 10 km southeast of Ocala . Orlando is 90 km, Tampa 140 km and Jacksonville 160 km away.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 6539 inhabitants at that time were distributed among 3392 households. The population density was 527.3 inh / km². 57.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 33.3% as African American , 0.6% as Indians and 1.1% as Asian Americans . 4.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.0% to several ethnic groups. 16.3% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 30.2% of all households and persons aged 65 or over in 42.4% of all households. 63.2% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.45 people and the average family size was 3.02 people.

26.7% of the population were younger than 20 years, 22.3% were 20 to 39 years old, 22.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 28.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 41 years. 46.1% of the population were male and 53.9% were female.

The median annual income was $ 26,910, with 17.3% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 88.16% of the population, 10.92% spoke Spanish and 0.92% had another mother tongue.
