McIntosh is a city in northern Marion County in the US state of Florida with 452 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
McIntosh is located in the Ocklawaha River basin , on the western bank of Orange Lake and approximately 25 km north of Ocala . Jacksonville is 120 km, Orlando 140 km and Tampa 170 km away. The eastern limit of the urban area is the shore of the lake and at the same time the border between Marion County and Alachua County . McIntosh is traversed in a north-south direction by US Highway 441 ( SR 25 ).
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 452 inhabitants were distributed over 241 households. The population density was 251.1 inh / km². 94.7% of the population identified themselves as whites, 1.8% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 0.9% as Asian Americans . 0.9% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.5% to several ethnic groups. 4.4% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 40.7% of all households lived in 19.0% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 62.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.05 people and the average family size was 2.51 people.
16.8% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 16.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 28.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 38.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 52 years. 49.3% of the population were male and 50.7% were female.
The median annual income was $ 50,729, with 1.0% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.

On November 18, 1983, the McIntosh Historic District was inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places .
