Silwija Georgiewa ( Bulgarian Силвия Георгиева , English transcription Silviya Georgieva ; born July 23, 1988 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian biathlete .

Silwija Georgiewa is a student who lives in Sofia and trains in Elin Pelin . She starts for National Sport Academy NSA and is coached by Palakarski. She has been practicing her sport since 2003 and has been a member of the Bulgarian national team since then. In 2005 she ran her first Junior World Championship in Kontiolahti and achieved a 52nd place in the individual and eleventh place in the relay as the best result. Since the 2005/06 season, the Bulgarian has also entered the Junior European Cup, but rarely achieved placements in the top 20. Also at the Junior European Championship 2006 in Langdorf , she could not achieve any results worth mentioning. Things went better for her in 2007. At the Junior World Championships in Martell , she came in 17th in the individual, 25th in the sprint and 34th in the pursuit. With the season she came in seventh. The Junior European Championships in Bansko went even better for Georgiewa . The worst result was place 21 in the individual, in the sprint she came in 19th place and 17th in the pursuit. With the relay she won the bronze medal. On the other hand, the Junior World Championships in Ruhpolding and the Junior European Championships in Nové Město na Moravě 2008 were not very successful. The junior summer biathlon world championships 2008 in Haute-Maurienne , where Georgiewa 18th in the sprint, 12 . became fifth in the pursuit and season.

Georgiewa made her debut among adults in 2007 at an individual in Obertilliach as part of the Biathlon European Cup , which she did not finish. The first career highlight was the Biathlon World Championships 2008 in Östersund . In the sprint race she was 94th, in the individual she did not finish and the planned start with the relay did not materialize. The Bulgarian has been competing in the biathlon world cup since the 2008/09 season . In 2009 she reached rank 85 in the sprint at the 2009 Biathlon World Championships in Pyeongchang and thus her best result so far in this competition. Her best result with the Bulgarian relay was a 14th place in 2010 in Hochfilzen . During the 2010/11 season she competed in the IBU Cup and was called up three times as the fourth woman to take part in the relay competitions in the World Cup. She had to cancel the relay at the 2011 Biathlon World Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk for health reasons. At the Winter Universiade 2011 in Erzurum , she took 28th place in the sprint. She did not start in the pursuit. With the Bulgarian mixed relay (with Emilija Jordanowa , Vladimir Iliev and Krassimir Anew ) she achieved third place and secured the bronze medal. At the end of March 2011, Georgiewa ended her active biathlon career for private reasons. After that, she concentrated exclusively on her studies and her bachelor's degree, which she is aiming for in May 2011.
