Mulfingen is a municipality in the Hohenlohe district in the Franconian north-east of Baden-Württemberg . It belongs to the Heilbronn-Franconia region (until May 20, 2003 Franconia region ).

Geographical location
Mulfingen is located in the Jagsttal around ten kilometers northeast of Künzelsau at an altitude of between 250 and 459 meters above sea level.
Community structure
Mulfingen itself and the incorporated former communities of Ailringen (with St. Bernhard ), Buchenbach, Eberbach, Hollenbach, Jagstberg , Simprechtshausen and Zaisenhausen each form a village . There are a total of 27 residential spaces: Mulfingen with Ochsental, Badau, Lausenbach and Mittelberg, Ailringen with Röthelweiler, Buchenbach with Berndshofen, Bodenhof, Heimhausen and Oberer Railhof, Eberbach, Hollenbach with Albertshof, Atzenweiler, Löhleinsberg, Seelach and Hollenbach See, Jagstberg with Hohenrot, Seidelklingen, Hasenklingen, Birkenreisach and Unterer Railhof, Simprechtshausen, Zaisenhausen with Staigerbach.
In the area of the former municipalities are the abandoned villages of Gruningen in Ailringen, Spelte and Holzhausen or Mühleburg in Buchenbach, an unnamed castle in Eberbach, Althollenbach, Igelstrut, Ozendorf and Seelach in Hollenbach, Arnoldshausen, Karletzhausen, Liebenberg and Weidelbronn in Jagstberg, Niedermulfingen, Roggelshausen and Riemenstetten (?) in Mulfingen, Dürzel, Monbronn, Taubenhof, Westernholz and Zwerenberg in Simprechtshausen as well as Wolfhardsberg and Borstel, presumably a defunct castle in Zaisenhausen.

history
Until the 19th century
Mulfingen was first mentioned in a document in 980. During the time of the tribal duchies , the place was in the Duchy of Franconia . In 1479 the place received market rights. In 1802 it fell to the County of Hohenlohe-Bartenstein . When the Hohenlohe Lands lost their independence in the course of the Rhine Confederation Act , Mulfingen came to the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1806 .
20th century
During the time of the Nazi dictatorship , children of " gypsies " and "gypsy-like children" from other children's and educational homes in Württemberg were admitted to the St. Josefspflege children's home in Mulfingen . In May 1944, 39 were Sinti children in the concentration camp Auschwitz deported, where up to four of them were all killed. Since 1984 a plaque with the 39 names on the main building commemorates these children.

On February 10, 2008, Robert Böhnel was elected to succeed Hermann Limbacher with 84.57% of the vote. On January 24, 2016, Robert Böhnel was able to assert himself against his competitors with 64.52% in the first ballot, the turnout was 73.6%.
Municipal council
In Mulfingen, the municipal council is elected using the spurious sub-district election. The number of local councils can change due to overhang mandates . The municipal council in Mulfingen has 19 members after the last election (unchanged). The local elections on May 25, 2014 led to the following official final result. The municipal council consists of the elected voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council.

badges and flags
The blazon of the Mulfingen coat of arms reads: In red a silver sloping bar, covered with three red roses. The flag of the municipality is white and red.
The new municipality of Mulfingen continues to have the Mulfingen coat of arms established in 1930, which is the old coat of arms of the local aristocracy, handed down in 1486 by Hans von Mulfingen. The coloring is, however, more recent as it has not been recorded. The coat of arms and flag were awarded to the community on January 11, 1978 by the district office of Hohenlohekreis.

Buildings and cultural monuments
The St. Anna Chapel not far from the Jagstbrücke is a pilgrimage chapel from the 16th century. It stands next to a source that was already known to be medicinal in pre-Christian times.

Mulfinger reservoir
The Mulfinger reservoir, built between 1962 and 1964, is located above the village. It serves as a flood retention area for a catchment area of 9 km². With a dam height of 13.5 meters and a permanent storage volume of 66,000 cubic meters, this results in a permanent storage area of 1.9 hectares. The lake can be used as a bathing and fishing water; Boating and ice skating are prohibited. The banks, however, are mostly steep and densely overgrown and there are no facilities such as changing rooms or sanitary facilities available.
Natural monuments
The Dorflinde Hollenbach is a minimum age of 700 years, one of the oldest Linden in southern Germany.

Established businesses
The largest company based in Mulfingen is ebm-papst Mulfingen GmbH & Co. KG , which it claims to be the world market leader in the field of motors and fans. In the 2007/2008 financial year, the ebm-papst group employed 9,898 people worldwide, 2538 of them in Mulfingen, and had sales of EUR 1.076 billion. Germany's second largest manufacturer of team sportswear, the sporting goods manufacturer JAKO AG , is located in the district of Hollenbach .
Broadband coverage
Together with Schöntal, Mulfingen founded the association for broadband supply in the Middle Jagst Valley . This manages a fiber optic network over 60 km long. The construction of the fiber optic network began in Mulfingen in 2010. With the commissioning in 2012, with a few exceptions, nationwide broadband coverage was achieved. In the Siegenwasen industrial park in Hollenbach, the areas are directly accessible with fiber optics. Data transfer rates of over 500 Mbit / s are possible. Most recently, the network was expanded together with the construction of the water pipeline on the Jagstberg plateau, in the area of the through-roads in Buchenbach and Berndshofen, and to Eberbach. Further expansion measures are planned.
Education and care
Mulfingen has a public primary school as well as a private secondary and secondary school with a community school . A new school canteen will be ready by the end of 2018. There are three kindergartens with five groups in Mulfingen. A toddler care facility with two groups is provisionally set up in Jagstberg. The Mulfinger and Jagstberg kindergartens offer all-day care. In Hollenbach there is a group with regular supervision. There are also childcare options for schoolchildren. The children's island Panama is located in the new primary school, which was completed in 2014.
Sports
The FSV Hollenbach played 2010-2017 in the football league Baden-Württemberg .
