history

The glassworks on Landberg near Hühnerwasser can be traced back to the 18th century. It was located within the Great Zoo, which almost completely enclosed the Lordship of Hirschberg , Weißwasser and Münchengrätz . It was first mentioned in 1727 in a description of the Weißwasser dominion. The wooden structure consisted of an oven and a bar with a beer cellar. In 1774, the owner of the allodial rule Weiß- und Hühnerwasser, Vincenz von Waldstein , sold the glassworks with all associated buildings as well as the privilege to dispense stately beer, wine and brandy for 1500 guilders to the Falkenau smelter Johann Josef Kittel. The purchase also included meadows on the desert pond ( Pustý rybnik ), of grief Bach ( Hradčanský Potok ) the overseer meadow at Wawrauschker Pond ( Vavrouškův rybník ), a clearing between the Great Dirnstig ( Držník ) and the Strasbourg Pond ( Strážovský rybník ), the lowland forest in Dobischen ( V Doubči ) on the heather pond and a rocky area on the Eichberg with the forest growing on it. Kittel built at the junction of Old Melnik street from the old road Leipaer the settlement Straßdorf and near a new glassworks. In 1786 Kittel signed over the property to his son Johann Michael Kittel for 1620 guilders. This ceased operations in 1788. In 1791 his concession for the glassworks expired because the rulers were better able to sell the wood for a planned fortress construction in Kummer than at the terms agreed with Kittel. When Ernst von Waldstein-Wartenberg inherited his father's lordship in 1797, he had the Great Zoo closed. At the site of the old glassworks, stately forest buildings were built at the beginning of the 19th century to manage the Hühnerwasser forest district, which were given a convenient location thanks to the construction of the new road from Weißwasser via Hühnerwasser to Gabel between 1815 and 1817 . In 1832 Christian von Waldstein-Wartenberg inherited the dominions.

After the abolition of patrimonial , the single-layer glassworks , which consisted of an adjunct house and a housekeeper, belonged from 1850 to the Strassdorf district of the town of Hühnerwasser in the Bunzlauer Kreis and judicial district of Niemes . In 1903, Glashütte had grown to include four buildings belonging to the Graeflich Waldstein Forestry Office; In addition to the adjunct house belonging to Hühnerwasser and the Hegerhaus, there was a second Hegerhaus and a forester's house on the Plauschnitz corridor. In 1906, 15 people lived in the Rotte Glashütte, which was built on the basis of Hühnerwasser. After the Ralsko military training area was set up , the now nationalized forest buildings in Skelná Hu were taken over by the military forest company. Today there is a base of the state enterprise Vojenské lesy a statky ČR, sp (VLS) in Skelná Huť , one of the buildings ( Chata Skelná Huť ) serves as accommodation for those seeking relaxation.
