The Wybrzeże Słowińskie (translated: Slowinski Coast ) is a section of the Polish Baltic Sea coast and at the same time a mesoregion in Poland , which is part of the Köslin coast .

etymology

The coast is named after the West Slavic tribe of the Slowinzer .

location

The coast lies in the east of the Pomeranian Bay in the West Pomeranian and Pomeranian Voivodeships between the mouth of the Parsęta at Kołobrzeg in the west and Cape Rozewie at Władysławowo in the east. The coastal section is several hundred kilometers long and about 1123 km² in size and forms a compensatory coast with wide sandy beaches, up to 115 meters high ( Rowokół ) ice age moraines and coastal dunes and numerous beach lakes .

To the west of the Slovinzian coast lies the Treptower coast , to the south the Belgarder Ebene , Stolper Ebene , Hebrondamnitzer plateau and the Zarnowitz plateau and to the east the Kashubian coast and the Hel peninsula are connected .

geology

The landscape of the Slowinsian coast was created in the Glacial Vistula . In addition to the glaciers, which have left sediments and moraines behind, the current of the Baltic Sea also shapes the coastal section, in which it transports the sand from west to east and, by removing cliffs (e.g. shifting dunes in the Solwinzischen National Park), spits and beach lakes . The shifting dunes are formed by the wind.
