Solms is the smallest district of the market town Niederaula in the eastern Hessian district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg in Hesse . It is located south of the main town in the Waldhessen region . The Fulda flows north past the place.
The place was first mentioned in 1213 with the place name Salmannes . The village got its current name in 1610 through the variants Salmans , Salmis and Salmus .
On December 31, 1971, Solms was incorporated into the municipality of Niederaula.
The federal highway 7 leads directly past the western edge of the town. District roads 24 and 79 meet in the village .
The high-speed line Hanover – Würzburg runs east of the town, and its trains enter the Richthof tunnel there.
Regionalverkehr Kurhessen GmbH provides bus transport with line 381.
