Niederjossa is the southernmost part of the market town of Niederaula in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in East Hesse . It is located south of the main town in the Waldhessen region on the Jossa . Not far from the town, the river flows into the Fulda .

history

782 later Emperor gives Charlemagne the monastery Hersfeld goods in place of the then "Geazahe" is called. The spelling of the place name changes via Iazaho and Nyderyassa to today's Niederjossa .

Archaeological finds and barrows suggest that there was a settlement in the Stone Age .

In the Middle Ages, the Kurz Hessen , a road from Eisenach to Frankfurt , ran through Niederjossa .

On December 31, 1971 Niederjossa was incorporated into the municipality of Niederaula.

Culture and sights

Dolles village

  • In December 2008 Niederjossa was selected for the " Dolles Dorf " series of the Hessian broadcasting company. By winning the telephone vote in May 2009, one could take part in the final round on June 4, 2009 for the Hessentag in Langenselbold.
  • At the Hessentag in Langenselbold on Sunday, June 7th, 2009, Niederjossa achieved third place in the final title race for the “Dollste Village 2009” of the Hessian broadcasting company. The trophy won was a bronze "Uncle Otto" .

Niederjossa was a railway junction on the Niederaula – Alsfeld and Bad Salzschlirf – Niederjossa railway lines . At the beginning of the 1980s, the last railway operations were stopped.

The federal motorway 7 is north with a junction . The federal road 62 and the state road 3140 meet in the village .

Regionalverkehr Kurhessen GmbH ensures bus traffic .
