Solt [ ʃolt ] ( German Scholt , Croatian Šolta ) is a city in central Hungary .
Solt lies on the Danube, in the great Hungarian lowlands . Solt has more than 6000 inhabitants and is located at the point of contact between the waterways and inland routes at a central transport point, the intersection of three important roads between Budapest and Baja.
Infrastructure
A few kilometers north of Solt operates Magyar Posta the transmitter Solt , one of the world's largest medium-wave transmitter . The transmitter has been working on 540 kHz with 1680 kW transmission power since December 1, 2017.
In the 1930s a bridge over the Danube was built in Solt, which was blown up by German troops during World War II . The current bridge was built in the 1950s.
