Basically, these games are completely included in the Sonic Gems Collection , but can only be played to a very limited extent.

development

After the sales of the Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Mega Collection Plus exceeded Sega's expectations , the goal was to release a Sonic Collection that would contain the rest of the and lesser known Sonic games. While the Sega Mega Drive games could previously be easily emulated, this time many different systems had to be made to work, which turned out to be more difficult than initially assumed.

So that really was for the Sonic Gems Collection scheduled Knuckles' Chaotix not built eventually, because it was too difficult to 32X implement games on the fly without clearance errors. In the case of the SegaSonic the Hedgehog arcade gaming machine , the implementation failed because of the peculiar control with a "track ball", which, according to Yūji Naka, was not compatible with the console controllers. Sonic Eraser was also removed after the two other Sonic games were no longer available, as it shouldn't be too much in focus due to the limited scope of the game and the low quality. Instead, the Sega Game Gear -Sonic games, which were not included in the Sonic Mega Collection Plus , were added. Apart from Sonic, the Sega Mega Drive games Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair (1990), Wonder Boy in Monster World (1991) and Monster World IV (1994) were also not implemented, although this was originally planned.
