Sonja Ledl-Rossmann (* 1. September 1974 in Ehenbichl , Tyrol as Sonja Ledl ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ), former director of the home, and since March 28, 2018 President of the Tyrolean Parliament .

From 2013 to 2018 she was a member of the Austrian Federal Council , from November 2017 its Vice-President. In the first half of 2017, she was President of the Federal Council .

education and profession

Ledl attended elementary school in Vils from 1980 to 1984 and then attended the Reutte secondary school, which she graduated from in 1992 with the Matura. Subsequently, she graduated from the nursing school in Reutte between 1993 and 1996 and received her diploma in 1996.

From 1996 to 2001 Ledl initially worked as a qualified health and nurse on the internal ward in Reutte and then moved from 2001 to 2003 as a nursing manager in the Lechaschau senior citizens' home . Since 2003 she has been the home manager of Haus Ehrenberg. It has been decommissioned since 2009.

Political career

In 2006, Ledl was elected as deputy chairman of the ÖVP district party for the Reutte district. She represented the Tyrolean People's Party from 2008 to 2013 in the Tyrolean state parliament. From June 2009 to 2014 she was also the country leader of the VP women and since 2009 she has been the regional party chairwoman. She has been the district party leader of the ÖVP in the Reutte district since 2013 and the national chairwoman of the ÖAAB women since 2015 .

In 2013 she moved into the second chamber of parliament in Vienna as a member of the Austrian Federal Council . There she was its president in the first half of 2017.

Ledl-Rossmann became known to a wider public on January 26, 2017 in her function as President of the Federal Council (as Chair of the Federal Assembly ), when she had sworn in the current Federal President , Alexander Van der Bellen .

On March 28, 2018, she succeeded Herwig van Staa as President of the Tyrolean Parliament .

Private life

On May 15, 2010 she married the Innsbruck lawyer Harald Rossmann and took her double name.
