On its way, the Sor crosses the Tarn department and also touches the Aude and Haute-Garonne departments .

The Sor rises in the Montagne Noire landscape , in the municipality of Arfons , initially drains to the southwest through the Haut-Languedoc Regional Nature Park, turns to the northwest at Les Cammazes , then again to the northeast at Revel , later to the north and flows after 61 kilometers at Vielmur-sur -Agout as a left tributary into the agout .
