action
Sean Porter is a probation officer at a juvenile detention center where he and his colleague, Malcolm Moore, plan to turn a group of juvenile felons into a football team in four weeks. Faced with gang rivalries and hatred between members of his team, Porter tries to instill a sense of self-respect and responsibility in the inmates. Despite initial difficulties, they even make it to the playoffs and win. But then you lose the game for the championship. Still, some players continue to play football , only this time professionally.
Since, according to statistics, around 75 percent of these young inmates return to jail or end up dead on the street, Porter and Moore face seemingly insurmountable hurdles. In addition, nobody wants to compete against convicted criminals. Only through hard work and a lot of motivation can Porter and his team fight their way to a second chance.

Press and reviews
Admittedly, the story is not original for Peter Uehling. “The film is not afraid to move its audience in a conventional way. Nevertheless, it is also strong in its straightforwardness. He does not soften his characters psychologically, does not impose any underlying motivations on them, but sums up their objective problem situations: This has happened, these are the consequences, and you can do that against it. The film doesn't spell this out with all harshness, it is probably designed a bit too warm and soft in the light and camera. In doing so, however, he also distances himself from cheap, blatant images of brutality and misery. ” January 4, 2007 | Berlin newspaper
According to Michael Kohler, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is becoming an unmistakable sign of a well-done B-Picture. The “mixture of genres is not particularly original from an aesthetic point of view, but it is very solidly staged and equipped with the necessary pinch of reality. A liberal spirit wafts through this true story break-up drama behind bars, and one can surmise that this is precisely what influenced The Rocks' choice of roles. The impression of factual accuracy try not to harden only in citing the actual recidivism rate, but up in individual terms in director Phil Joanou and author Jeff Maguire. As Margret Köhler knows, “By the way, it was actually shot at Camp Kilpatrick in order to maintain authenticity. And some ex-Mustang players also work as extras. Although Joanou loses the fate of his protégés a bit towards the end and is primarily interested in their sporting achievements, when the credits run from the documentary and reports how members of the first team found their way into a life without crime and that GAME ON PRESERVATION have passed, one is reconciled again. ” January 1, 2007 | br-online.de
