reception

Despite the rather conventional repertoire ("The tracks on the CD invite you to yawn."), Ellis succeeds in producing a convincing Christmas album "with ease" with, according to MDR Figaro, singers who are confident in style, good-humored instrumentalists and a "lot of humor" the station made the "album of the week".

Götz Bühler agrees with this judgment: “On his first Christmas album, the 72-year-old makes exactly the music that one would expect from a sovereign who has lived his career between jazz and soul . With an enormously relaxed (and at the same time enormously grooving) young band and numerous guest singers, Ellis conjures up the 'Spirit Of Christmas'. "

The world , who was discussing a concert in which the album was presented in Hamburg in 2013, considered this to be a "bright mess".
