The Sportpaleis (also Sportpaleis Antwerp or Antwerp's Sports Palace ) is a multifunctional hall in the Merksem district of the Belgian city in Antwerp , Flanders region . Mainly concerts , sports and festival events take place in the arena . Artists such as Beyoncé , Britney Spears , Cher , Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike , Janet Jackson , Muse , Prince , Rihanna and Sting performed there.
Metallica broke the attendance record twice in 2017: on November 1, 2017, 22,616 spectators attended the concert, and on November 3, 2017, even 22,626 spectators attended the concert.
Awards
The Billboard magazine announced that the Sportpaleis, with over 1.3 million viewers is the second most visited arena in the world (in the period from November 2007 to November 2008). First place went to Madison Square Garden in New York City .
