Basketball Champions League 2017/18

The Basketball Champions League 2018/19 was the 3rd season of the Basketball Champions League .

mode

As in the previous year, 32 teams took part in the main round. In the first qualifying round, 24 teams took part, which determined eight participants in the second qualifying round in the knockout system in the first and second leg. There they met teams that were set there. The winners of the second qualifying round again met in the third qualifying round against teams that intervened there. The winners of this round qualified for the group stage.

In the main round, eight teams per main round group competed against each other in four groups in a round-robin tournament , in which each team played a return match against every other group participant. The results resulted in a ranking for each group, in which the four best per group qualified for a round of 16 play-off from a round trip. The fifth and sixth in the table were moved to the round of 16 of the FIBA Europe Cup 2018/19 , the last two in each group were eliminated from the European Cup.

From the round of 16, four participants in the final four tournament were determined in the knockout system in the first and second leg , which was played on the weekend of May 3 to 5, 2019. The losers of one semi-final game determined the third place in the competition in the small final, while the winners of the semi-finals played off the overall winner and title winner in a final game.

Including qualifying participants, 21 national champions took part in the Basketball Champions League again. In terms of performance, the competition continued to come closer to the EuroCup , including Brose Bamberg , a long-standing EuroLeague participant in the Champions League for the first time .
