Career
Stéphane Yelle began his career with the Oshawa Generals in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League , before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft as 186th in the eighth round of the New Jersey Devils .
Before the left shooter had completed an NHL game for the Devils, however, he was transferred to the Québec Nordiques , which were relocated to Denver , Colorado before his first use and have since played under the name Colorado Avalanche . With the Avalanche, Yelle won the Stanley Cup in 1996 and 2001 . In 2002 he was transferred to the Calgary Flames , where he was also used as a temporary defender. For the 2008/09 season , the attacker signed a contract with the Boston Bruins .
On March 3, 2010, the center, since the 2009/10 season under contract with the Carolina Hurricanes , was transferred from the Canes together with Harrison Reed to the Colorado Avalanche, where he played successfully from 1995 to 2002. Carolina received in return young player Cédric Lalonde-McNicoll and a six-round draft pick. Yelle completed 17 more games for Colorado and ended his career after the season. He was then hired by the Avalanche as Development Coordinator .
Yelle was considered a defensively oriented center , whose strengths included his good skating skills and his outnumbered game . As one of the leading players of his respective teams, the attacker also had a higher than average Bully -Gewinnquote. His weak scorer qualities and his susceptibility to injury were considered a weakness .
