Cyriacus Church

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cyriakus is in Middle Summer , a community in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia . It is under the patronage of the Frankish martyrs , St. Cyriacus and St. Laurentius , and is a listed building . The parish Mittelsömmern belongs to the parish area Bad Tennstedt in the parish of Mulhouse the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

Archaeological and architectural studies show that today's hall church has its origins before the 12th century. The nave is the oldest. Parts of the previous building are still preserved in its south wall. Immediately to the nave was east in the 13th / 14th. The tower was added in the 19th century. Originally it was the choir tower of the previous Romanesque building. In the first half of the 15th century, the polygonal closed choir was added and the sacristy was added to the north . The north wall of the nave had to be renewed in the 19th century.

The church tower has biforias as sound arcades and is covered with a pointed helmet . The interior of the groin vaulted choir has lancet windows , the nave has arched windows . The yoke in the choir in front of the apse has a barrel vault , as does the nave. The first floor of the tower has a flat ceiling . All three rooms are connected to each other by arches with strong fighters . The galleries are two-story, the upper one is circumferential. The Baroque high altar is decorated with vine leaves columns and a painting of 1847 with the crucifixion of Jesus . In the south wall of the nave there is an epitaph from 1577 for Hans von Dachröden with a mercy seat and coat of arms . The pulpit is from the 18th century. The first organ dates from the 17th century. Today's organ has 16 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal . It was built in 1841 by the organ builder Hesse .
