description
Langula already had a church, which was rebuilt after a fire in 1765/66. The retracted church tower in the west of today's hall church is essentially Gothic . The neo-Gothic nave , supported by buttresses , and the three-sided choir were built in 1842–45. The vestibule and the choir have groin vaults , the nave is covered with a wooden beam ceiling. The square tower has a slate-roofed tower that continues on eight sides. A hood with a lantern with a tower ball sits on it. The window in the east with a representation of Jesus Christ dates from 1901. The church furnishings are neo-Gothic. The north and south of the circumferential gallery are two-story. In the east is the pulpit altar under the gallery. A late Gothic baptismal font has ornaments from tracery . Two late-Gothic sacrificial sticks and a chapel with iron fittings from the 15th century complete the furnishings.
The organ with 17 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built in 1843 by Johann Friedrich Schulze . The place was especially known for the care of church music since the end of the Thirty Years War . Adam Jakob Schröter, cantor in Langula at the beginning of the 18th century , often met with Johann Sebastian Bach to discuss innovations and trends in sacred music.
The church was completely restored in 2004/05.
