history

Wülfershausen, which originally belonged to the parish Altbessingen , became a branch of the newly founded parish of Burghausen in 1601 . The church was built in 1615 at the instigation of the Würzburg prince-bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn and expanded in 1782. The church was restored between 1992 and 1994. A new organ was procured and the sacristy was rebuilt.

description

The church tower in the style of Julius Echter stands in the east. The choir is located on the ground floor . The nave has a trough-shaped ceiling. The gallery with the organ is built into the west side. The interior is classicistic and was probably created by Jörg Schäfer from Karlstadt . Figures of the first church patron Kilian with his companions Kolonat and Totnan are placed on the high altar . On the side altars there are figures of the second church patron Vitus (right) and the Mother of God with Jesus after the deposition from the cross (left). The pulpit is on the south wall.

Remarks
