Gallery pictures

West gallery

The wooden west gallery is marked with the year 1507 and has the signature “mang”. On the balustrade of the gallery eight picture panels have been preserved, on which the stations of the cross are shown in monochrome painting . The first station describes the parting of Jesus from his mother before his entry into Jerusalem . The scene refers to the Gospel of Mary , an apocryphal script of the New Testament not included in the Bible , whereby Mary is equated with Mary Magdalene, the church patroness . The next stations are: Jesus on the Mount of Olives, flagellation, crowning of thorns and Ecce homo . In the sixth station the meeting with the weeping women of Jerusalem, the fall of Jesus under the weight of the cross and the support of Simon of Cyrene , who helps Jesus to carry the cross, are summarized. The crucifixion and burial of Jesus follow.
