St. Michael and Brigida (Nonnenbach)
St. Michael and Brigida is a Roman Catholic chapel in the Blankenheim district of Nonnenbach in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The chapel belongs to the parish of St. Johann Baptist , Ripsdorf .
The church is dedicated to St. Archangel Michael and St. Brigida of Kildare consecrated as a monument under number 116 in the list of monuments in Blankenheim (Ahr) entered.
location
The chapel is located in the northern part of the small town of Nonnenbach at the confluence between Kapellenstrasse and Lucht.
history
The chapel was built in 1851. It replaces a previous building mentioned in 1807. In 1865 the roof turret was added to plans by the Cologne diocesan master builder Vincenz Statz . Perhaps he was also responsible for the plans for the small chapel.
Building description
St. Michael and Brigida is a simple single-axis hall building with a three-sided choir closure . A square roof turret with an eight-sided bent helmet rises above the west gable. The exterior is plastered in white, as is typical of the area, while the interior is spanned by a flat ceiling.
Furnishing
In the interior there are some wooden figures of saints from the 18th and 19th centuries. Century and three colorful stained glass windows with abstract motifs from the 1980s.
