The catholic listed church St. Nikolaus is in an elevated position of Zella , a district of the municipality of Anrode in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish of St. Martin in Hüpstedt the deanery Dingelstaedt in the Diocese of Erfurt .

After the destroyed previous building from the 16th century was demolished, a new hall church with three axes , five-sided end of the choir and four-storey church tower on a rectangular floor plan was built in the west. It is covered with a slate-covered hood on which a lantern sits. In 1955 the sacristy was added.

The interior is covered with a barrel vault with deep stitch caps , belt arches with painted bands and wall templates . The high altar dates from the 2nd half of the 18th century. A crucifix is flanked by Saint Martin and Saint Nicholas . The wooden baptismal font is from 1538. The pulpit has an ornamental carving. The carved cheeks from 1742 have been preserved from the former church stalls. The organ with nine registers , divided between a manual and the pedal , was built by Gottlieb Knauf in 1865 , rebuilt by Louis Krell in 1900 and restored by Karl Brode & Sohn. A stone crucifix is ​​located on the southern outer wall of the polygon.
