The Church of St. Pankratius is the Roman Catholic parish church in the Ederen district of the city of Linnich in the Düren district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

history

A first church in Ederen was built in the 11th and 12th centuries. Except for the tower, this church was replaced by a baroque hall church in 1770 . The church had a choir tower . In the years 1893 and 1894, the structure was extended by two bays to the west. It was based on the baroque structure. A Renaissance gable was placed in front of the nave in the west . This expansion was done according to plans by the Aachen architect Josef Hürth . The tower of the church was blown up by German troops in 1944. The extension in the west also fell victim to the war and the vault had collapsed completely. In 1953 and 1954, the church was rebuilt according to plans by the Rheydter architect Alfons Leitl , taking into account the remains that were still there.

Furnishing

There is modern equipment in the church. Worth mentioning is the carved stations of the cross . The windows were created by the artists Maria Katzgrau , Susanne Becker-Pass and Agnes Hasse in 1948, 1993, 1998–2000 and 2006.
