The St. Remigius Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Tettingen-Butzdorf , a district of the Perl municipality , Merzig-Wadern district , Saarland . The church bears the patronage of St. Remigius and is listed as an individual monument in the Saarland monuments list.

history

In the Taxa generalis subsidiorum cleri Trevirensis , a directory of ecclesiastical property (monasteries, churches, etc.) of the Archdiocese of Trier , a church in Tettingen was mentioned from 1330. The first documentary mention of a parish church dedicated to St. Remigius in Tettingen was found in a visitation report of the Perl regional chapter from 1569. Due to the dilapidation , the church was replaced in 1680 by a new building at the same location.

In 1851 a new church was built on the road from Sinz to Perl on the outskirts of Tettingen. The plans for this were presented by master builder Josef Weis ( Trier ).

During the Second World War in 1944 the war front ran near the church, so that artillery shells brought down half of the church tower and the roof , windows and interior fittings were destroyed. In the years after the war, the church was restored and, from 1951 to 1952, it was subjected to extensive restoration and conversion work, with a flat beam ceiling being installed. Another restoration took place in 1991.

Furnishing

Part of the church, a 1950-built one meter high pulpit with wooden reliefs , the Bible scenes show 33 pews dating from around 1960, with figural carved circles on the landing page, one with figures decorated rise of railing of 1960, a mosaic with the Depiction of fish from 1965 on the inside of the tower entrance, the gold-plated 30 cm high tabernacle from 1965 on a machined concrete pipe , the high altar acquired in the parish of St. Aldegund / Mosel in 2007, the stone celebration altar from 2007, and the stone ambo . Further items of equipment are five alabaster reliefs by the sculptor HR Hoffmann (Trier), which are incorporated into the side altars and the font . The side and choir windows show depictions of the life of Jesus and St. Remigius and were manufactured in 1991 by the Binsfeld company (Trier).

The triumphal arch between the nave and the chancel was painted inside 1990th The capitals on the side walls were also painted in 1990. The interior portal , acquired in 1991, is made of glass and brass .

At the exit towards Sinz there is a cross chapel, which was built around 1955.
