description

The stately hall church over five axes was built in 1755. It is equipped with tall rectangular windows and covered with a mansard roof. The rectangular church tower in the west , which was built from heterogeneous ashlar masonry , was taken over from a Romanesque predecessor building, St. Georg, which was first mentioned in 1222 . A reconstruction of the previous church is attested by an inscription from 1461 in the tower hall . The tower is covered with a hipped roof, from the top of which a roof turret rises. The top floor of the tower in which is bell frame is, on all sides has Biforien as sound arcades .

The interior has three-sided two-storey galleries and is spanned over the central room with a ceiling supported by coves . The broad, carved pulpit altar from 1793 has a pair of columns and large vases decorated with acroteries . Over the sounding board that is baby Jesus displayed. A high rectangular relief shows the outpouring of the Holy Spirit . It comes from an altarpiece carved around 1500 . Two panel paintings from the 18th century, painted on both sides, were removed from this reredos and reworked into knee benches for the altar. The sacrament house , a large late Gothic crucifix and a six-sided baptismal font made around 1600 come from the previous building . The organ with 27 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built by Ernst Siegfried Hesse in 1845 , rebuilt by Paul Laubs in 1837 and expanded by Friedrich Löbling.
