Schwerstedt is a municipality in the Sömmerda district in Thuringia . It belongs to the administrative community of Straussfurt , which has its administrative seat in the municipality of Straussfurt .

geography

Schwerstedt lies between Bad Tennstedt and Straussfurt. The distance to both places is about 5 km. The brook Öde flows through the village and flows southeast of the village into the Mittelgraben , which in turn joins the Unstrut after around 2 km in the Straussfurt retention basin .

The border to the Unstrut-Hainich district with the village of Ballhausen runs west of the village .

history

At the beginning of the 9th century Schwerstedt is in a directory of the Patrimony of the Archbishop Lull († 786), built by Mainz monastery Hersfeld as Suegerstede mentioned. The place belonged to the Electoral Saxon Office Weißensee until 1815 . The manor Stödten was located southeast of Schwerstedt . It existed as an independent manor district until 1928 and was merged with the municipality of Schwerstedt in the course of the dissolution of the manor districts in Prussia. The manor was completely removed during the GDR era in the 1950s, and its lands were flooded by the Straussfurt flood retention basin .

Culture and sights

The church of St. Trinitatis von Schwerstedt was built at the beginning of the 18th century and is very spacious with a large choir room. The inside of the nave is plastered or painted white and decorated with gilded Rococo ornaments. The pulpit construction dates from around 1793 and the baptismal font from around 1600. The parish belongs to the Eisleben-Sömmerda parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The Schwerstedt (Unstrut) stop was on the Ballstädt – Straussfurt railway line . The line has been closed since 1999.

Via the L 2165 , Schwerstedt is connected to the B 4 , which runs in the south between Straussfurt and Gebesee . In the north of the town, the L 2165 joins the L 3176, which runs between Bad Tennstedt and Straußfurt.
