description

The Church of St. Ursula is one of the oldest buildings in today's Lusan city. Late Romanesque building elements can be found on the ground floor of the church tower . The choir and the adjoining apse indicated that it was built around 1200. Some alterations and extensions were made in 1767, 1933 and 1934. Besides two bells from 1919 and 1958, it has the oldest, the one cast in 1473 Church bell in the city area. At its core, St. Ursula is a well-preserved village church with an approximately square choir tower tapering towards the top and a semicircular apse with an apse dome . It was built as a short hall church. Several alterations are secured by findings and inscriptions on the southwest corner of the tower. 1333 was the sacristy on the north side of the choir grown . The last renovation was in 1965/66 . The interior was redesigned. On the north, east and south sides, the tower , which is covered with a pyramid roof , has biforias with pointed arches and cloverleaf arches . Under the eaves of the nave are small lancet windows from the 13th century. Underneath are modern arched windows . The flat-roofed nave has three-sided galleries from the 18th century. Above the choir arch are figurative , flat steel band structures by the Gera artist Herbert Enke, which he created around 1965/66. The organ with 6 registers , divided into a manual and a pedal , was built in 1886 by Richard Kreutzbach .
