The stadium (until January 2018 Swedbank Stadion ) is a football stadium in the Swedish city of Malmö . It opened on April 13, 2009 with the game Malmö FF against Örgryte IS .
background
Construction of the stadium began on November 6, 2007. Completion was in April 2009. The stadium has a capacity of 21,000 seats for international games. At national games, it is approved for 24,000 visitors - including 18,000 seats and 6,000 standing places. It is the home of Malmö FF , one of the most prestigious Swedish football clubs. The structure has a length of 215 meters, a width of 150 meters and a height of 27 meters.
The stadium, which includes a restaurant for 2,000 people, has an honorary box for 60 people and 53 boxes for twelve people each. In addition, club chairs in three categories are offered on both long sides, where food and drinks are also served. It also offers space for 100 disabled people and their companions. It has 330 men's toilets and urinals, 120 women's toilets and six toilets for wheelchair users. In addition to football, the stadium is also used for congresses, conferences, exhibitions and concerts.
The name of the stadium was based on the fact that Swedbank became the name sponsor of the facility on July 12, 2007 . Swedbank and the City of Malmö were also the investors in the new stadium. The total investment amounted to 695 million SEK (or about 76.14 million € ). The ten-year naming agreement with Swedbank ended in 2017. To this end, the bank became an official partner of Malmö FF. Until further notice, the venue will bear the simple name of the stadium until a new namesake is found.
