Stanisław Ernest Denhoff (born September 7, 1679 in Berent , † August 2, 1728 in Danzig ) was a Polish congress sword bearer , field hetman of Lithuania , voivode of Polotsk and confederation marshal of the confederation of Sandomirz .

family

Count Stanisław Ernest Denhoff came from the Dönhoff family and was a son of Count Władysław Denhoff († 1683) and Joanna Konstancja Słuszka († October 30, 1733). His first marriage was to Countess Maria Johanna Katharina Dönhoff (1686–1723). From this marriage his only daughter Konstancja (1717–1791) was born. Her first marriage was with Prince Janusz Aleksander Sanguszko (1712-1775) the court marshal of Lithuania, and her second marriage was with Josef Rogalinski († 1820). Stanisław Ernest Denhoff entered into a second marriage with Maria Zofia Sienawska (1698–1771), the daughter of Adam Mikołaj Sieniawski .

Life

Stanisław Ernest Denhoff was the master of Liebenau, Kauden and Gramsauen in Courland . Since 1697 hunter master of Lithuania, from 1709 to 1728 field hetman of Lithuania, from 1721 to 1728 voivode of Polotsk, as well as starost of Nowokorczyńsk, Kaluga , Kościersk , Lubocheńsk, Mozyrsk, Latowick, Lucyńsk and Zydekańsk.

In the Battle of Poltava Denhoff fought for Poland-Lithuania on the side of Peter the Great .

As a supporter of Augustus the Strong , he was appointed Confederation Marshal of the Confederation of Sandomir on May 20, 1704.

From 1704 to 1721 Denhoff was also a Polish congress sword bearer, as well as spokesman for the Sejm in 1710, 1712 and 1713 , but joined the opposition in 1717, dissatisfied with the provisions on the power limitation of the Szlachta by the mute Sejm .

Denhoff was a Knight of the White Eagle Order . He was buried in the family chapel in Jasna Góra .
