Stanislav Nikolajewitsch Gomoskow

Stanislav Nikolayevich Gomoskow ( Russian Станислав Николаевич Гомозков ; * 3. August 1948 in Asipovichy , Mogilev Region , in the Byelorussian SSR of the former Soviet Union ) is a Soviet tennis players , table tennis coach, former world and European champion and multiple medalist at the world championships.

Career

Stanislaw Gomoskow played for Spartak Moscow . He achieved first successes at the European Youth Championships in Prague in 1965 and Szombathely in 1966 , where he won a total of five titles. In Prague he won doubles and with the team, and a year later he also won singles. His association nominated him for the World Championships in Ljubljana in 1965 , he was eliminated in the round of 32 in both singles and mixed games. Two years later he won his first world championship medal when he surprisingly became vice world champion in doubles after a final defeat against Hans Alser / Kjell Johansson together with Anatoli Amelin . In 1969 in Munich he made it to the semi-finals in doubles - again with Amelin - in the other competitions the quarter-finals at the latest, as in 1971 in Nagoya . 1973 in Sarajevo the last sixteen in singles and doubles were the last games. He won his only world title in 1975 in Calcutta . In a purely Soviet final, he and his partner Tatjana Ferdman defeated compatriots Sarkis Sarchajan / Elmira Antonyan . Although he took part in the World Championships again in 1977, he was only among the last 32 in singles in Birmingham .

Gomoskov was also very successful at the European level. The double semi- final in London in 1966 was followed by the first European championship in 1968 . In mixed he won with Soja Rudnowa . With her he successfully defended the title in 1970 , 1972 and 1974 , in doubles he was four times in the semi-finals and once in the quarter-finals, in singles three fourth-finals between 1968 and 1972 were the best results. At the end of his career he won another bronze medal in mixed at the European Championships in Prague in 1972 , again with his long-term partner Rudnowa and in the team competition. He achieved his best placement in the European ranking tournament Europe TOP-12 in 1972 when he was fifth.

From 1978 to 1982 he was the coach of the Soviet women's national team.

Private

Gomoskov studied at a construction institute. He has been married since 1970.
