Star Spangled Rhythm is an American musical film directed by George Marshall et al. a. was created and published in late 1942.

Star Spangled Rhythm was filmed in 1942 as a production by Paramount Pictures for special use as troop entertainment during World War II. The film was based on the script by Harry Tugend with Sketchen a. a. by Melvin Frank and George S. Kaufman . The score was contributed by Robert Emmett Dolan ; the movie songs were by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer . Contributing stars included Bing Crosby , Bob Hope , Dorothy Lamour , Paulette Goddard and Fred MacMurray .
The figure of BG Desoto is modeled on the Paramount producer BG DeSylva, that of Y. Frank Freemont on the then Paramount Vice President Y. Frank Freeman. Had short appearances (sometimes without language role) u. a. Rod Cameron , Eva Gabor , Cecil Kellaway , Matt McHugh , Robert Preston and Woody Strode . Star Spangled Rhythm was the film debut of Bing Crosby's son, Gary Crosby , who was then nine years old. Tom Dugan , who appears in the role of Adolf Hitler , also plays the character of Bronski . Dugan had already played Hitler in Ernst Lubitsch's comedy Sein oder nicht sein (1942).

The working title of Star Spangled Rhythm was Thumbs Up . Paramount bought Arthur Ross and Fred Saidy the rights to use two sketches from their musical revue Rally Round the Girls , which were used in the film. The sequence with the song That Old Black Magic , which was directed by A. Edward Sutherland , was originally supposed to be shot by René Clair , who was not available at the time of shooting.
The film was made between June 11 and July 23, 1942 at Paramount Studios on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood . Further filming took place at the Naval Training Center in San Diego . The cost of producing the film was $ 1,127,989. The film premiered on December 30, 1942 in New York City; from January 1943 it was launched nationwide.
In 1943, Broncho Billy Anderson sued Paramount for misuse of the name Broncho Billy ; he complained that the film character of Bronco Billy in Star Spangled Rhythm was a " washed-up and broken-down actor " in whom he saw himself incorrectly embodied.

Pop Webster is a former silent film star known as "Bronco Billy" who now works as a doorman at the main gate of Paramount Pictures. However, he has told his son Johnny, who serves in the Navy, that he is vice president of the production department. When Johnny shows himself in Hollywood while on shore leave, Pop and studio operator Polly Judson maintain the illusion for Johnny and his sailor friends that Pop is a big figure in the studio. When Pop suggests producing a variety show for the Navy with all the Paramount stars, things get complicated, but Polly persuades Bob Hope and Bing Crosby to be on the show, and they get the rest of the stars on board.
