Stefan Buchen
Stefan Buchen (* 1969 ) is a German television author and investigative journalist . His journalistic work focuses on politics and society of the Middle / Middle East (s) and the Maghreb regions.
Life
Buchen studied the Arabic language in Mainz , Arabic literature in Tel Aviv and the French language.
He began his journalistic career with the French news agency Agence France-Presse and 1996 as ARD - foreign correspondent in Israel on. Buchen spent his traineeship between 2000 and 2001 at Norddeutscher Rundfunk ( NDR ). After this time he worked as a television writer for the NDR and from 2005 worked on the political television magazine Panorama .
He became known through his television documentary "The Lies from the Service - the BND and the Iraq War", which shows the relationship between the BND and the informant "Curveball" , where the informant had helped trigger the Iraq war with his invented "information" . Buchen also works for the ARD television programs Weltspiegel , Monitor (TV magazine) , Tagesschau and Tagesthemen .
In 2011 he received two awards for his reporting activities for his journalistic achievements on the events of the Arab Spring .
In September 2013 it was announced that he was wanted by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in 2010 as part of the secret Operation Project 6 , because of his investigative research into terrorism and reporting on it in the regions of the Arab Spring.
In 2017, Buchen helped as a television author with his films about the G20 summit in Hamburg 2017 that the editors of the NDR television magazine “Panorama” received the 54th Grimme Prize in the category “Information and Culture” in 2018 .
He is fluent in Arabic , Persian , Hebrew and French .
