Steffen Dittmann

Steffen Dittmann (born March 26, 1967 in Rudolstadt ) is a former German long-distance runner who had his greatest successes in the marathon .

In 1989 he was the GDR marathon champion in 2:21:04 h. The following year he increased by over seven minutes and won the Munich Marathon in 2:13:47 hours. In 1991 he set eighth in the 30me marathon with 1:32:59 h, a German record in the 30 km road race and finished fifth in the Vienna spring marathon .

In 1992 he first came second in the Munich Marathon and then won the Frankfurt Marathon with his personal best of 2:12:59 h. In 1993, finishing tenth in Ōme, he improved his 30 km record to the current mark of 1:32:27 h. In 1996 he finished 20th overall in the Berlin Marathon with 2:16:00 h and was thus German marathon champion . At the end of his marathon career, he finished eleventh at the 1997 Hamburg Marathon in 2:15:36 hours.

The 1.78 m tall and 64 kg heavy athlete started for the ASK Potsdam, the Racing Club Berlin, the PSV Potsdam and the LC Solbad Ravensberg, at whose event Night of Borgholzhausen he started three times in a row (1991-1993) second and seven times became the best German. After the end of his sporting career, he completed a degree in electrical engineering and then took a job at a software company that deals with traffic planning. He has two children.

In 2006, on the occasion of the 25th edition of the Frankfurt Marathon, he formed an anniversary relay together with three other former Frankfurt winners ( Herbert Steffny , Konrad Dobler and Heidi Hutterer ) .
