Stephen Lee (born October 1, 1990 in Kingston upon Hull , England ) is a British ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Nottingham Panthers in the Elite Ice Hockey League since 2009 .

Career

Club career

Stephen Lee began his ice hockey career with the Kingston Jets and their youth teams in his hometown of Kingston upon Hull , for which he played until 2006. In the 2004/05 season he made his debut for the Jets in the National Ice Hockey League , the third highest division in the UK. In the same season he also started playing for the Hull Stingrays and made his debut in the British National League . After the dissolution of the BNL, he played for the Stingrays first in the English Premier Ice Hockey League , the second highest British league, and from 2006 to 2008 in the Elite Ice Hockey League . He then moved to the Guildford Flames for a year , with whom he returned to the EPIHL. Since 2009 he has played for the Nottingham Panthers in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). As the main round winner of the EIHL, he won the British championship with the Panthers in 2013. He won the league playoffs with the club in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2016. In 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016 he also won the Challenge Cup. In 2017 he won the Continental Cup with the Panthers . For Hull and Nottingham, he has now completed more than 500 games in the Elite Ice Hockey League.

International

In the junior division, Lee represented Great Britain in Division I at the 2007 U18 World Championships and Division II in 2006 and 2008 when he was voted the tournament's best defender, as well as Division I U20 World Championships in 2007 and 2008 and Division II On the ice in 2009 , when he was voted the tournament's best defender, and in 2010 , when he was again the tournament's best defender and the best player on his team, he made a significant contribution to the promotion to Division I.

In the British men's national team , Lee was used for the first time at the 2010 World Cup in Division I. Also at the World Championships in 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2016 , 2017 and 2018 , when the British managed to return to the top tier of the World Championships for the first time after relegation in 1994, he played in Division I. He also represented his colors in the qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018 .
