This is a directory of street names in the Hanseatic city of Stralsund .

The directory gives the name of the street and (in brackets) the district. An explanation (year of naming, reason) for the street name is given. Because of the large number of streets, the directory was divided according to the first letters of the street names. Under "General" you will find the introduction and explanations of the street names in general.

  • Oberteichwiese (Tribseer / Tribseer Wiesen)
  • Oberweg (Tribseer / Tribseer settlement)
  • Olof-Palme-Platz (old town / bastion belt)
Named after the Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme . Shortly before his death, he visited Stralsund with Erich Honecker . Until it was renamed, the square was part of the Knieperdamm . The Stralsund Theater is also located here .
  • Ossenreyerstraße (old town / old town)
Named after the merchant family Ossenrey . Until the reform of the street names in 1869, only the section between Badenstrasse and Böttcherstrasse was referred to as Ossenreyerstrasse . The Ossenrey family lived in the first house on Badenstrasse, so the section was named after them.
The section between Altem Markt and Badenstrasse , which today belongs to the Ossenreyer, was called Hinterm Rathaus until 1869 , as the Stralsund town hall is located here. The section between Böttcherstrasse and Appolonienmarkt was called Schlaweden . This name was made up of the name of the pastor of the Stralsund parish churches ( St. Nikolai , St. Marien and St. Jakobi ) Otto Slore and the name for his residence ( wedem = Wedeme (parsonage)), which was in this area. The original name Sloreweden became Schlaweden over time due to ignorance.
  • Otto-Fock-Strasse (Knieper / Kniepervorstadt)
Named after the island Rügen -born writer and historian Dr. Otto Fock (April 29, 1819 - October 24, 1872). He dealt primarily with the history of Western Pomerania . His most significant work was the unfinished Rügen'sch-Pomeranian stories from seven centuries .
  • Otto-Voge-Strasse (Franconia / Frankenvorstadt)
Named after Otto Voge ; he was mayor of Stralsund from 1442 until his death in 1475 .
