history

Kaltwasser was created in 1784 by the Braunau monastery directly on the border with the County of Glatz in a remote valley on Barzdorf farmland.

In 1833 the village of Kaltwasser in the Königgrätzer Kreis consisted of 13 houses in which 93 people lived. There was an inn and a mill in the village; The cold pond, in which trout were bred, was in a forest ravine. Kaltwasser was subject to the Barzdorf courts and was parish in Barzdorf. In 1843 Kaltwasser had 104 German-speaking residents, the number of houses was unchanged. The village remained subject to the Braunau monastery until the middle of the 19th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial , Kaltwasser / Studená formed a district of the municipality of Barzdorf / Božanov in the judicial district of Braunau from 1849 . In 1868, Kaltwasser was assigned to the Braunau district . Due to the lack of industry in the second half of the 19th century, the population began to increasingly migrate to the centers of Braunau and Halbstadt , and some residents emigrated to Chile . During this time, the wine house developed into a popular restaurant on the way to the Heuscheuerbach waterfalls near Klein Karlsberg and the Heuscheuer. According to the Munich Agreement , Kaltwasser was added to the German Reich in autumn 1938 and belonged to the Braunau district until 1945 . In 1939 only 45 people lived in the village.

After the end of the Second World War, Studená came back to Czechoslovakia and the German population was expelled. Because of the remote border location, now with Poland, the village was only slightly repopulated. In the course of the territorial reform of 1960 the Okres Broumov was abolished, since then Studená has belonged to the Okres Náchod. In 1973 the largely abandoned village lost its status as a district of Božanov. Since the beginning of 1998 the place, under the new name Studená Voda, has been designated as a district of Božanov again.

In 1991 Studená Voda had no permanent residents. In 2001 the village consisted of a residential building and again had no permanent residents. Studená Voda today consists of five addresses.

Local division

The district of Studená Voda is part of the Božanov cadastral district.

Attractions

  • Former excursion restaurant Weinhaus
  • Desert castle, called the robbery castle or Hrad u Božanova , above the cold pond on the slope of the Heuscheuergebirge, it dates from the first half of the 14th century
  • Cold pond, in the forest west of the village
  • Sandstone quarry on the Lopota, the ashlar sandstone that occurs in the Barzdorf district is characterized by its particular hardness compared to most of the sandstones of the Falken and Heuscheuer Mountains and is therefore well suited as a building block. During the major renovation of the Braunau monastery under the abbot Othmar Daniel Zinke , sandstone blocks from the Lopota were mainly used. In addition, the stone was processed into monuments and millstones.
