history

The Reichenforster Grund belonged to the "Wünschelburg District" in the former Bohemian County of Glatz , with which it shared the history of its political and ecclesiastical affiliation from the beginning. It was originally owned by the Bohemian Chamber , which partially cleared the forests. 1577 sold Emperor Rudolf II. Rich forest of the city Wuenschelburg that a Vorwerk established that as a knight's seat served. It had been in the possession of Albrecht von Reibnitz since 1599 . Later owners were Tobias von Pannwitz in 1604 , Sigmund von Walditz in 1607, Hans Heinrich von Ratschin in 1616, Heinrich von Langenau in 1628, Ernst Christian von Pannwitz in 1637 and Mathäus Jacob von Kapellen in 1650. His widow Sidonie Elisabeth von Hacke sold Reichenforst in 1694 to Count Johann Ernst von Götzen (1667–1707), who combined it with his Tunschendorfer estate.

After the First Silesian War in 1742 and finally with the Peace of Hubertusburg in 1763, Reichenforst came to Prussia together with the County of Glatz . For 1805 a manorial Vorwerk , a Kretscham as well as 12 gardeners and two cottages are proven. After the reorganization of Prussia, it belonged to the province of Silesia from 1815 , which was divided into districts. The district of Glatz was responsible from 1816–1853, and the district of Neurode from 1854–1932 . After its dissolution in 1933, Reichenforst again belonged to the Glatz district until 1945.

As a result of the Second World War , Reichenforst fell to Poland in 1945 and was renamed Gajów . The German population was expelled in 1946 . Some of the newly settled residents were displaced from eastern Poland . 1975-1998 Gajów belonged to the Wałbrzych Voivodeship ( Waldenburg ).
