The Succha district is located in the Aija Province in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on December 21, 1907. It has an area of 77.4 km². The 2017 census counted 752 residents. In 1993 the population was 1061, in 2007 it was 905. The district administration is located in the 3129 m high village of Succha with 312 inhabitants (as of 2017). Succha is located 6.5 km southwest of the provincial capital Aija .
Geographical location
The Succha district is located on the western flank of the Cordillera Negra in the south of the Aija province. The Río Aija, upper reaches of the Río Huarmey , flows along the northwestern district boundary to the southwest.
The district of Succha borders in the northwest on the districts Coris and Huacllán , in the northeast on the district Aija and in the south on the districts Malvas and Huayán (both in the province of Huarmey ).
