Sucralfate is an aluminum - salt of sucrose sulfate .
effect
By taking sucralfate a protective film of sucralfate produced protein - complexes , of the gastric mucosa and a possible Ulcusgrund covered. Sucralfate also binds pepsin and bile acids . Sucralfate is used in the therapy of a duodenal ulcer or gastric ulcer ("stress ulcer") and their prophylaxis . It can also be used to treat reflux esophagitis .
interaction
The focus is on a reduced absorption of certain substances due to an increase in the pH value in the stomach and / or binding of the substances in the gastrointestinal tract . For this reason, it is recommended that you leave at least 2 hours between taking sucralfate and other substances. Interactions exist e.g. B. with: beta blockers , antibiotics (such as cephalosporins , gyrase inhibitors and tetracyclines ), L - thyroxine , theophylline , vitamin B 12 and digitalis .
