Sultanhisar is a city in the Ilçe (district) of the same name in the Turkish province of Aydın and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Aydın (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 2012 . The place is located in the immediate vicinity of the ancient ruins of Nysa on the Meander , it was raised to Belediye in 1924 (according to the city logo) .
Since a territorial reform in 2014, the Ilçe (district) is identical in terms of area and population to the district town, all 13 former villages and the two municipalities (status at the end of 2012: Salavatlı and Atça ) of the district became mahalla (districts) of the city.
