The Labuk ( mal. Sungai Labuk ) or Labuk River is a river in the Malaysian state of Sabah on Borneo . It rises in the northwest of Sabah and runs over 260 km from the highlands to the mouth in the Labuk Bay, which in turn belongs to the Sulu Sea . In the estuary near Beluran , the width of the river widens to more than a kilometer. The Labuk with its source and tributaries drains an area of ​​3240 km². At Kampung Tambidong-bidong , the Sungai Klagan splits off from the Sungai Labuk and flows as a separate body of water towards the Sulu Sea .

10% of the Labuk area is characterized by low, gently undulating hills with heights of up to 200 m. 50% of the catchment area consists of mountains up to 1000 meters altitude and another 40% of mountains up to 4000 meters altitude. The upper course consists of sandstone and silt, the lower course of basalt , gabbro and ultramafic rock . The soils are sandy and loamy in different layer thicknesses.
