Susanne Sabine Renner (born October 5, 1954 in Tübingen ) is a German and American botanist . She is professor of biology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , director of the Botanical Garden in Munich-Nymphenburg and director of the Munich State Botanical Collection . Susanne Renner received her diploma in 1980 and her doctorate in biology from the University of Hamburg in 1984 . In 1992 she completed her habilitation in systematic botany . From 1987 to 1992 she was Associate Professor at the Botanical Institute at Aarhus University . From 1993 to 1996 she held a professorship at the Institute for Special Botany at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . From 1996 to 2006 she was a professor at the University of Missouri – St. Louis , to which one of the largest botanical gardens in the world, the Missouri Botanical Garden , is attached. Since 2003 she has held the chair for systematic botany at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, is director of the Botanical Garden Munich-Nymphenburg, the Botanical State Collection and the University Herbarium (MSB).
