Susanne Ruoff (born September 29, 1958 in Zurich ; resident in Oberengstringen ) is a Swiss manager . From April 2009 to February 2012 she was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BT Switzerland AG, the Swiss branch of the BT Group . From September 1, 2012 to June 8, 2018, she was Group Manager at Swiss Post .

Life

Ruoff, the daughter of a nurse and a tax expert, grew up in Zurich. She trained as a teacher and worked as a primary school teacher for seven years. The Zurich native has a degree in economics and is Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) in telecommunications from the International Institute of Management in Technology (iimt) at the University of Freiburg . She holds a Client Executive degree from the Insead Management School in France and completed further training on corporate governance in executive boards at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) .

From 1989, Ruoff worked for IBM Switzerland in various management positions in the areas of marketing , sales and service business and headed the public administration division . At the end of her twenty years, she was a member of the executive board from 2005 to 2009 and was responsible for Global Technology Services. She was also a member of the board of trustees as employer representative of the pension fund of IBM Switzerland for six years .

From April 2009 to February 2012 she was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Country Head of BT Switzerland AG, the Swiss branch of the BT Group.

In November 2011, she was appointed Group Manager on September 1, 2012 by the Board of Directors of Swiss Post. She joined the company on June 1, 2012 and, after a three-month familiarization phase, replaced Jürg Bucher at the helm of Swiss Post, who was retiring. Ruoff is the first woman in this position. As a group leader, she became a member of the board of directors of the subsidiary Postfinance AG and chairman of the board of directors of Post CH AG, Post Immobilien AG and PostAuto AG .

From 2009 to 2013 Ruoff was a member of the Board of Directors of Geberit , from 2011 to 2012 she was a member of the Board of Directors of Bedag Informatik AG, the IT company of the Canton of Bern . She was also a member of the Industrial Advisory Board of the Computer Science Department at ETH Zurich until spring 2012 .

In 2017 Ruoff took part in the Bilderberg conference .

On June 8, 2018, Ruoff resigned in the course of the PostBus Affair” for allegedly illegally obtained subsidies from PostBus Schweiz AG over a decade totaling 78.3 million francs. She thus assumed overall responsibility, but pointed out that there had been certain indications of the illegal booking practice at PostBus in the period under review between 2007 and 2015, but that there was no evidence that she was aware of this practice. The investigation report followed on June 11, 2018.

Private

Ruoff is married with one grown son and one grown daughter and lives in Crans-Montana . She does not belong to any party and sees herself in the middle politically.
