Svein Munkejord

Svein Magnus Munkejord (born September 26, 1948 in Karmøy ) is a Norwegian politician of the conservative party Høyre . He was his country's fisheries minister from 1989 to 1990 .

Life

Munkejord finished his studies in economics at the University of Oslo in 1975 . He then worked until 1976, first in Vegdirektorat , a sub-agency of the Statens vegvesen before becoming a consultant in fishing. In 1981 he worked briefly in the Ministry of Fisheries. From 1983 to 1984 he was the person in charge of fisheries matters at the Norwegian Embassy in Brussels before being appointed Secretary of State at the Norwegian Ministry of Fisheries on July 1, 1984 . He held the office until October 4, 1985. Then he was fishing chief in the province of Rogaland until 1989 .

From 1987 to 1991 Munkejord was part of the local parliament of Karmøy. On October 16, 1989, he was appointed Minister of Fisheries in the Syse government. He held this post until the end of the government on November 3, 1990.
